You dream of something different.
Something deeper.
Something more.
You see a world longing to experience the love of Jesus.
You dream of a different kind of church, one that shows his love through life-transforming communion with God, whole-life community, and life-giving mission. We’re excited to help you reconcile what you see with what you dream. If you’re willing to try something new and ready to move from imagination to action, we’d love to hear your story.
Communitas North America is a collective of missional pioneers passionate about helping fellow pioneers start, shape, and lead faith communities on mission. As practitioners, we know how rewarding—but challenging—leading a missional faith community can be. That’s why we value deep connection. Relationships are central to our approach to coaching, equipping, and caring for local leaders like you.
You believe in a new way to be the church. You want to see the church make a real difference in the lives of the people in your community beyond the church building walls. You want the “good news” to be, well, good news. You want authenticity, wholeness, and compassion to define your faith community. You want to live in a community of grace as Jesus transforms you into His image.
Communitas North America is a collective of pioneers passionate about helping fellow pioneers form faith communities that think, care, and act like Jesus. Our desire is to catalyze a movement of innovative churches—to equip and empower leaders through coaching, resources, and relationships.
A Communitas church proclaims the gospel message of Christ in deed and word; it seeks to enter into the story of its context and humbly embody the good news of the kingdom from within. In this way, “church” takes on many forms. Expressions of Communitas churches can be found in homes, cafes, neighborhood parks, and offices. We welcome experimentation.
This expansive approach allows for each church to be unique and relevant yet embody three core elements of the church:
Connecting with God and others in authentic, real-life experiences. We realize we have not arrived but are always in the process of being shaped as God’s people. We grow from challenges and do not strive to avoid them or deny them. Doubt, deconstruction, heartache, and wrestling work hand-in-hand with assurance, reconstruction, joy and peace to transform us and our communities and draw us ever closer to abundant communion with our Creator.
We practice radical hospitality and loving and welcoming of strangers in a mission-focused community. We don’t live compartmentalized lives but rather holistically integrate all of our existence into a shared life for the love of the world. We do this by engaging in culturally contextual expressions in a relational manner.
In our missional pursuits, we promote life and life change and look outward to serve the needs of our neighbors. Mission is not a "program" or a "trip" but the essence of our identity. God, through Christ, commissions God's people, the Church, to go into the world to demonstrate and tangibly express God's presence and loving intention for all of humanity.
